Our first litter. The only thing we knew for sure before we bred these puppies is that nothing is for sure! No amount of strategizing, planning, or preparation a breeder does will ever surmount the hand of fate when it comes to rolling the ol’ genetic dice. Although research and diligence are incredibly important components of breeding, there are nevertheless some things a breeder must simply leave to fate.
Respecting nature’s role in what would come of this pairing, we applied a luck/fate theme to this litter under our oft-repeated mantra, “Que Sera Sera” - what will be, will be. Affectionately, the puppies also became known as “the Shallettes” (a combination of their parents’ names and homonym to “shallots”, as the puppies’ litter call names were garden-themed).
This co-breeding took place under the mentorship of Allee’s breeders/owners, AKC judge & breeder Jan Leikam (Adrienne borzoi), and AKC Breeder of Merit Monica Barry (Hounds of Laureate).
